After the „york“ has won a competition, the owners of the „Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road Co.“ ordered 18 further locomotions from the producer „Grillingham & Winans“. Because of the strangely appearance with vertical boiler, vertical cylinders and silt formed push rods the locomotion got the nickname “Grasshopper” soon. On 24. August 1835 a Grasshopper carried the first train to Washington. Under the name „Columbus“ 1836 the company “G.&W.” built a “Grasshopper” for the „Leipzig-Dresdener Eisenbahn“ the first locomotion that was exported from America to Germany.
